about

As a member of the "slacker generation" it would be so easy to just become complacent and settle in with the status quo, but that has never been me. So borrowing from the old trope regularly used to criticize younger generations, this song is equal parts an indictment of the inflexibility of older generations, and a celebration of the youth of today who are making their voices heard and fighting for the change we so desperately need.

Started over a year ago, this track has been simmering on the back burner waiting for the rest of the album to come together. But in light of current events in this country and around the world, I felt it was important to make this demo available now. The final version will be released later this year.

I will be donating all proceeds from this release to support local Philly area legal defense funds.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out. -Tim

lyrics

Kids these days
They have it so much better in so many ways

The kids these days
Well they don’t give a damn about the older ways

And kids these days
It doesn't really matter what their mother says

The kids these days
No they would never have it any other way

It’s clear to me
We can’t keep going
Why wait for tragedy
To get what we need?

But now with this
We’re looking out on a better view

The kids these day
They’re working out some things

It’s hard to feel alive
When you’re just here to do nothing
Well I’d prepare to take a dive

And when you realize
That it’s unfair, but do nothing
Then it’s too late to act surprised

Faithfully we kept on going
Only to compromise
For the boardroom thieves

And I’ll admit
At the risk of offending you

The kids these days
Already have us beat

Kids these days
They’ve had enough of you

And the kids these days
Have nothing left to lose

It’s hard to feel alive
When you’re just here to do nothing
Well I’d prepare to take a dive

(Kids these days)

Soon as you realize
That it’s unfair to do nothing
Then there’s no time for all the lies

(Kids these days)

How can you feel alive
When you’re just here to do nothing?
Well I’d prefer to take the dive

(Kids these days)

And when you realize
That it’s unfair, but do nothing
Then you’re the perfect sacrifice

(Kids these days)
